l have no idea what their thinking is there. And there's absolutely nothing on radar showing up. But it looks fun to look at.

Snowing nicely here now, don’t know where it’s coming from as I didn’t see much on the radar either. Ended up with 10cm here today so not terrible

Yeah, l just peeked out ground is a little white now, so l missed a snowshower l guess.

Someone on Twitter suggested that La Nina actually decreases our chances of top tier cold in the PNW, because it favours a NW flow. He went on to say that we might have better luck next winter when La Nina weakens.

This is interesting. Perhaps this is why statistically, moderate-strong La Nina's are not associated with big time cold events here? Part of me wonders if neutral-weak Nina's combined with a +QBO is the best outcome for us? The 1990/1991 winter was neutral/+QBO.

What are all of your thoughts?

Weak Nina's or neutral generally seem to yield the best winters across the Pacific Northwest. In terms of snow and/or cold.

Been mentioned several times here before but moderate/strong Nina's have a tendency to have a supercharged jet, giving us persistent precip but not much in the way of long lasting cold.

Yea it was! The last week of Feb is trending colder. I do not think winter is over yet.

My thots are this climate needs to thread the needle to score what we all want. In other words this climate sucks. Nito keeps kickin pumpkins at us.

Highs below 20c are freezing cold in the summer.

When I was in Vanderhoof last summer the entire week that I was there it didn't crack 20c until the last day.

The west does score..just not the coast.
Similkameen has just been krushing this year considering how dry its been at times

The funny part about it is our climate in the winter is COOL. it’s always only a few (or so) degrees from snow. Sometimes big snow. We just have very little variation from the average and almost no variation between daytime high and overnight low. It’s just BLAH. one day I’d love to move to the Okanagan or somewhere in the interior but I’d likely be otherwise bored. I need easy access to a city. Also pornoman would have issues with certain small town mindedness “values”, so it’s a non starter. And, ya know, work. Though COVID really has proven remote work is allllllmost as good as in person in my field. Anyway I guess I’m doomed for a life of boring weather. Hence why it’s good to have the odd wicked storm or unusual event to keep things interesting.
