I just got a delivery estimate from FedEx ground for the one I ordered. Saturday the 26th. Earlier than I thought it would arrive. Hopefully correct.

Can I pay someone to have the models crash and burn like they do when they promise 40cm of snow? :problem:
Therefore temps of 25 to 28 will only be produced?

I heard that Tuesday was the last day for elementary schools. Maybe each district is different. I'm not sure.

Another apect of this coming heat wave will be the unprecedented melt water both from the alpine snowpack which is still there and the glaciers. Look at those temperature anomalies where most of the snow and glaciers are! I don't know if you get to the point of flooding but I know the Squamish river is highly susceptible and there's alot of glaciers in that watershed. On another note this is also starting to remind me of 2003 where we just saw basically a train of building ridges slightly weakening and building again slightly weakening and building again. That was a bad fire year and if I remember correctly most trails and recreation areas around metro Van were completely closed during that summer. I can see it happening again if this pattern remains like 2003 or 2017. It could even be worse there are way more people camping and in the back country now I was in the Chehalis area last weekend and it was like a traffic jam up there it's insane how many people are up there. The big question is are people going to listen to restrictions and bans. People are tired of it.

If they promise us 40cm of snow and we get 0cm, now that they're promising 40C we should get 0C? Maybe that light snow is possible after all.

Quite possible. I know that they have to have a certain number of instructional hours but I think they have some flexibility how they achieve that. I've heard of schools that have 9 slightly longer days and only 1/2 day every other Friday, etc.

Pomoman wrote: Thu Jun 24, 2021 7:19 pm I am so glad I moved. My last place was on the 26th floor facing south and east. We baked at 6 am until 3 pm and then got hit with suns reflection from the high rise across the street from 6 to 8. A cold sunny day would render us hot. This coming heatwave would be deadly.
Now we face north so I say (somewhat selfishly) bring on the all time highs. I love record smashing.
Once again wishing wundermaps had more stations in Burnaby, which seem to be lacking compared to neighboring towns.

Actually a few years ago we did in fact have the weather network forecast over 40 (41 if I recall) for Abbotsford for a couple days.... But it didn't verify due to a thick blanket of wildfire smoke.

I believe it was either the end of August or early September that it happened. 2018/2019? Can't remember the year but it was fairly recent.

Yeah, that was 2018. There was talk of getting near all-time records, then the smoke cancelled it.

oh thank goodness! when you posted the set before all I could think was "did that just get worse??"

I bought a box fan last night, we have a variety of regular fans and honestly this house is not set up to put in air con at all. all the windows are either the full slider or the ones where you push out at the bottom and get maybe 8 inches of room. fortunately we don't have any south facing windows and our west facing ones are all surrounded by tall trees.

my daughter's friend in Florida recommended the box fan, I figured Florida would know something about beating heat
