More likely that some crappy Vancouver driver slammed into a power pole again. There's this intersection at McBride and 10th in New West where you reguarly see cars impacting the utility poles. It happens at least once a month.Rubus_Leucodermis wrote: ↑Sat Jun 26, 2021 10:36 am The grid is not likely to be overloaded. Wintertime electricity demand for heating significantly exceeds any reasonably expectable demand for cooling during this event.

Re: June 2021 Forecasts And Discussions
The other thing we might see is heat-induced failures of equipment. That may well cause localized outages, but it is a different thing than an electricity shortage.wetcoast91 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 26, 2021 10:42 am More likely that some crappy Vancouver driver slammed into a power pole again. I wonder how accurate that Cultus Lake location is ... I'm at the Vedder right now and while it's hot, it's nowhere near 35.8 yetCanada Goose wrote: ↑Sat Jun 26, 2021 11:14 am 11:00 am

Hey Abbywx what's going on with your station right now? It seems it's not reporting correctly...

I recall West Van or the Malahat having some pretty high Tmins during a heatwave recently (within the last 10yrs).Canada Goose wrote: ↑Sat Jun 26, 2021 9:00 am It's very difficult to find the national record of the highest min because there is a lot of wrong data. A few weeks ago, we looked for it with my friend on Twitter and it's probably around 28°C in southern Ontario. Here in BC, it must be around 26-27°C.

Hmm, every other reporting station in the area seems to be a few degrees behind this one. Maybe it's just a hot pool of air there

It's not a good location. Concrete near the station. Building very close. Not well ventilated. Overexposed.arbetrader wrote: ↑Sat Jun 26, 2021 11:21 am Hmm, every other reporting station in the area seems to be a few degrees behind this one. Maybe it's just a hot pool of air there
