Well it looks like Knucks are dumping Virtanen (contract buy out) clearing 2.5mil off the books,
sad that Virt got himself in hot water.

This team now has a 2 year window to win. No good prospects coming up, better hope like hell all of our top young guys end up being good (Hogs, pod, rathbone and dipietro) because with a flat cap we can't afford any more pieces. I will say the forwards look pretty good. The second line will be small with garland and hoglander but that is a way better second line than almost any we've had since the Sedins were the second line. I guess Kesler-Raymond-Samuelsson was pretty lights out on second thought.

Marc-Andre Fleury has been traded to Chicago... And might just decide to retire. Crazy thing is, he won his first Vezina trophy this year in his late 30s. Going from memory, I think only Tim Thomas and Gump Worsley were older when bestowed top goalie honors.

 why did l think Shenn was with the Knuckles before.
I'll have to look it up l know , lf l'm correct it was a Leaf player. Josh Leivo l'm thinking of fractured his knee cap missed the playoff bubble he was playing well befote he got injured he was aquired in a trade.

Luke Schenn did play a season or two for Canucks, maybe not full seasons ,think he was in the minors for a while.

Glad Benning got rid of Schmidt, didn't do much, undersized and overpaid. Looks like house cleaning of expensive dead wood pretty well complete, kudos to Benning, didn't think it was possible, we'll worry about OEL and Myers at a later date, hopefully much later.

Schmidt turned down a trade to Winterpeg on Monday.
Edit: he did go there after all for a 3rd round pick in 2022.

Men's team put up a valiant effort in the gold cup semi finals against Mexico, falling short in the end with a 2-1 loss despite missing at least 3-4 guaranteed starters.

We've improved by leaps and bounds over the last few years and are now a genuine regional competitor and have a decent chance to qualify for the next world cup.
