I thought you'd put on a bit of weight in that video but we all know the camera adds 10 lbs.

so much for updates we have better updates on our forum.
Blame Twitter for that... they don't put them in chronological order. If you scroll down there are several tweets from 3-4 hours ago right up until the last hour.

I was in the field doing geotechnical engineering a few years ago but have settled comfortably into a forestry/surveying position now. It beats any fluvial or cutbank related work since it can get quite messy and tiresome. Work was supposed to take me into Merritt tomorrow and Friday. :tiredos:

To answer that. There is no official timelines from the guys up there, just lots of speculation and guesswork right now. A herculean effort could see roads restored sooner but there's a lot of worst case scenarios since our governments are disjointed.

Smell of toxic smoke in the air.

Seems like every time there’s a disaster the sikh community really goes above and beyond. Amazing.

The Feds are sending help.

Too bad CFB Chilliwack was closed years ago.

Finally some images along Hwy 3.

The landslides aren't too bad, the biggest area of concern would be the erosion at the cutbank.

Looks like it fared better than the other 2 anyways.

wetcoast91 wrote: Wed Nov 17, 2021 10:21 am Early word is that Highway #3 appears to be in good shape which is remarkable. Flood waters have receded in Princeton as well.

That's where the good news end. Numerous structures and roadways appear to be wiped out or have been rendered inoperable along Highway #1 in the Canyon, up to Lytton and along Hwy #1 through Spences Bridge. A dozen bridges and culverts will need to be rebuilt since the debris flow have worn away at the foundations.

Biggest technical challenge in these areas is that work will need to be done with dry conditions and temperatures above +12C to allow concrete to cure and settle.
I'd like to think they'll be able to set up some sort of temporary fixes sometime within the next few weeks. Then do the major work in the spring.

SouthSardiswx wrote: Wed Nov 17, 2021 11:00 am That wasn't a decent winter only low elevation snows and cold rain l recall.
It was decent. We had a minor cold snap at the beginning of December and a significant overrunning event. Lots of sloppy snow/cold rain around Christmas. Had a decent end of January as well. Overall it was cool with lots of W/NW flow. Large, persistent snowpack above ~400m.
