Was supposed to do work up in Meritt on Wednesday. I have been told the Coquihalla has sustained major damage in "several areas" which could take months to repair. The images I am seeing leads me to believe the road will require new bridges, culverts and retaining banks which could take a full year to complete.

There's also been landslides and slope destablization along Hwy 1 and 3 which will require extensive closure time to assess.

Yeah, based on some of the images/videos coming out this morning, there are multiple areas that are completely washed out. Unreal.

Yeah the Coq probably won't reopen until the summer at the earliest. Bridge work will need to be done after the freshet during late July and August.

Technically broad flat ridging is ridging? Hence the sunshine and mid to upper 60s in Oregon and Washington the past few days. No signs of amplification at all though. Probably need a major SSW wave to see some blocking.

That is going to put a lot of pressure on 1 and 3 and add winter weather to the mix.... yikes.

Crazy. Those are typhoon like rainfall totals. Ive experienced typhoon rainfall in the Philippines. It feels.similar although not quite as high hourly rain rates as in a typhoon. I'm sure in some areas in the mountains near Hope and Harrison it has closed in on 300mm already (and we have melting snows to deal with and they don't obviously in the Philippines). . During the AR in October 2003 some areas in the Sea to Sky saw amounts much higher than this. Same with the October 1984 AR.

I assume both #1 and #3 will require periodic closures over the next few weeks to assess the slopes. There's already been a few landslides but the freeze coming in the next few days may cause superficial "soil fracturing."

The heatwave in the summer also likely led to ground fracturing. Water + ice could take down whole cliffs and mountain sides with any destablization.

. I predicted Ridgcember. I'm still going with that although it's looking less likely. Maybe a couple weeks ridge pattern in mid Decemeber or around Christmas? I remember 2009 when a ridiculously wet Novemeber was followed by a ridgy, dry and cold December. It happened quite a few times actually.
