Snowfall Warning in effect for:

Metro Vancouver - central including the City of Vancouver Burnaby and New Westminster

A long period of snowfall with total amounts of 15 to 25 cm is expected.

Where: Metro Vancouver and Howe Sound.

When: Now through Monday morning.

Remarks: Bands of snowfall and localized heavy flurries continue to impact the South Coast of B.C. through Monday morning. A period of heavy snowfall is expected again tonight. Additional accumulations will vary across the region, ranging from 5 to 10 cm. The highest amounts will likely occur over higher terrain, but other areas may see locally intense flurries giving reduced visibility and heavy snow accumulation. Precipitation will taper off to a few flurries Monday morning.

Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow.

Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions.

So, are we expecting 15–25 cm more (note future tense wording), or 5–10 cm more? I think it's the latter if you read it carefully, though you shouldn't have to read these things carefully.

Also, per the maps I just posted, 5–10 cm is very generous, and seems ignorant of the showery nature of this event. Many areas won’t even see 5 cm. “up to 10 cm” would be more accurate.

it's been coming down here really good in Willoughby for 2 hours most of it moderate snow or better. I'm now measuring in inches. There's about 4 of them

Is this your first winter in squamish? I remember you moved but I can't remember where from. Was it south Langley? You are reaping immediate benefits for moving to Squamish which usually does very well with these troffy situations

I moved last fall, just over a year ago, and it's nice that we are always very close to snow, even when we're not getting it right in town. I used to live just north of QE.

Flurries at times heavy. 2 to 5cm with localized amounts near 10cm. How hard is that????

For us, EC dangled the SEX for 3 days and canceled it with the 4 pm update. The last time EC got our forecast right was the mid November windstorm. That over performed lol

Finally eased up to some light flurry and graupel showers mixed. I'll check the radar to see what else is coming next. I would say 9-10 cm..so far
