Yup the old PNE curse.
Hoping any more sunshine we get will be comfortable temps. It sucks we lacked any good light shows with all the heat but the flow was never conducive for any.
I was and still am pretty surprised we had pretty much zero chances of any lightning and storms during the June heatwave.
Would've been a perfect icing on the cake.
It always snows in December in the Kootenays

Wow, that look downright apocalyptic. Wtf...
That's what my sister said especially about the Merritt area with all the black smoke, she took the coq this afternoon heading back to Sicamous.

Ridge axis never quite makes it too far east and it retrogrades over the GOA late this week. Opens the door for rounds of showers and a relatively chilly period thereafter with that low sliding down the coast and hanging around the PNW/Western Canada for 4-5 days. Unofficial end of summer? Coincides nicely with the start of the PNE... as usual.
There is no way in hell I believe the heat is gone until it's October 1st. However I'm feeling comfortable that the next week is looking nice for everyone. The rainy periods don't look extreme by any means. I just want a soaking for this growing list of towns that could be wiped off the map.

Power is out along huge stretch of the Coq, but don't worry... let the fire light your way...

00Z GEM is a lot more robust with the showers tomorrow night into Tuesday. Firefighters could use this right about now.
