Re: October 2023 Forecasts And Discussions
I think we have possibly had +12-14 in January, especially in El Ninos. I remember being bitten by mosquitoes in winter time.

Re: October 2023 Forecasts And Discussions
Looks like we need to score late November/December. If not then we won't be seeing any snow. Looks to torch after that.

Re: October 2023 Forecasts And Discussions
This seems bad, it was a tropical storm like yesterday. Pacific basin is notorious for RI though. Patricia in 2015 was the most insane storm I have ever followed and will likely remain so for years to come.
2023-24 season stats:
Climo 81 to 44 GFS
Season total: 39.0 cm + 3 traces

Re: October 2023 Forecasts And Discussions
Lidia not the only storm to undergone rapid intensification. Super Typhoon Bolaven just did and is now a category 5 with peak wind at over 270km/h. I believe this is now the strongest typhoon of the year Going to stay over the ocean though, thankfully. Look at its recurving track. That is going to wreak havoc with the models and depending on where it ends up could create a breaking Rossby wave over the north central pacific creating a highly amplified pattern with the blocking high pressure and an extended dry spell over the West Coast to end October and into November. Stay tuned!

Chilliwack mountain colors coming along nicely
Even with the dry spell to me it seemed the trees didn't seem stressed this summer. IMO
I was just thinking that Rubes while driving down Vedder rd. in the central valley with wet leaves on the road in spots and thinking that the fall colors seem on cue this year.Rubus_Leucodermis wrote: ↑Tue Oct 10, 2023 8:56 am Amazing how much the fall colors progressed over the long weekend. Was in the Squamish area, and on Friday afternoon I drove through a tunnel of mostly-green bigleaf maples with a splash of colour here and there. By Sunday afternoon, they were almost solid yellow.

I mean how is the torching surprising? Generally confused. It's been happening all year.
