Either way, Carney is gonna win with a huge margin.Forrest Gump wrote: ↑Fri Apr 25, 2025 7:40 pmI heard there was a 3km long lineup today for Poilievre's rally in Nanaimo![]()

Nope, I haven't seen these type of large crowds since my parents watched Trudeaumania in 1968 on black & white tv.

Agreed -- proportional representation is more democratic. Also something that Trudeau initially promised which was never followed through upon.John wrote: ↑Thu Apr 24, 2025 2:36 pm I’m not a real fan of our political system in my perfect world, You would have half the seats based on popular vote and the other half on ridings so that even a party would one percent of the popular vote would get a seat or two.
You would have much lower chance of getting a majority by one part, but that’s democracy

Most people don't attend rallies, though. The Nanaimo-Ladysmith riding has 134,509 people in 2021. Let's say 10% of those people attend rallies for any party -- that's about 13,451 people. Assuming the support breakdown is similar to below, that's 4,304 people attending Conservative rallies. Depending on the venue, that's a lot of people. You could easily have long lineups. Now, what if Conservative voters are more likely than other voters to attend rallies? Let's say they are 1.4 times as likely to attend rallies as the average voter for other parties... now you have 6,026 people attending. Assuming each person in line requires 0.5 metres of space, that's 2,000 people per km, for a total of more than 3 km for 6,026 people. What I'm trying to say is that it's hard to understand big numbers until you actually put them in perspective.

There is zero proof this is happening, and it is very dangerous and unfair to bring this narrative into voting.Forrest Gump wrote: ↑Mon Apr 21, 2025 10:26 pm Did you use pen or pencil ? Like I said, it never entered my mind until my son'n'law mentioned it, since then I've noticed there are others who don't trust using a pencil.Weather101 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 26, 2025 9:16 am There is zero proof this is happening, and it is very dangerous and unfair to bring this narrative into voting.

Well, we're almost at the finish line, it'll be most interesting to see how real time votes compare to the polls.Abby_wx wrote: ↑Sat Apr 26, 2025 8:40 am Most people don't attend rallies, though.
