It's crazy that the previous September record is so hot actually (37.5C at YXX). Especially during the tail end of the summer where the day and night are almost of equal length.

16 years to the day August 29th that Katrina absolutely destroyed New Orleans, Ida will test their Levee system.

Fortunately, a lot of work has been done on those levees in the intervening years. 16 years ago the levees were in the opposite situation, with maintenance having been cut. Also, as bad as it is, Ida is a less severe storm than Katrina was.
It's called clown range for a reason.

Yikes, Ida sure blew up overnight into a beast of a storm. Could make landfall as a Cat 5 at this rate :shock: . New Orleans and Houma-Thibodaux are in serious trouble :wtf:
