Re: February 2023 Forecasts And Discussions
East Van has saturated. Snow is properly falling now. We're finally seeing the inland push. This should no longer be a mirage because flake size has actually increased.

No real change here yet. Still light on-and-off flurries.
It's called clown range for a reason.

Re: February 2023 Forecasts And Discussions
Nothing in Coquitlam...yet. Thought it may start early..now it looks delayed? That front seems to be stalling out, pumbling the NW zones. Weird. Squamish should see a nice snowfall from this
Looking forward to our first 3 day stretch of sun and 20c++

Re: February 2023 Forecasts And Discussions
I'm happy to hear all the reassurance on here, it's climbed to -0.2c, highest of the day. Snow eased up but is dumping down again. Had 4 cm at 2ish, probably another couple cm now.AbbyJr wrote: ↑Sat Feb 25, 2023 1:24 pm The temperature will drop when the moisture moves in. Dew points are still well below zero and the ground is frozen. This low is bringing cold air with it as it slides down the coast from the Northwest. This event has a very low probability of busting. Significant snow is coming.![]()

Snow has stalled on the north shore as temps are starting to climb above freezing. Ground is melted and now wet. Elevation 200m

Get Ready!
Snow should start falling shortly as moisture starts pushing inland. Flurries will turn to periods of heavy snow this evening and over night. Wild amounts of accumulations could be seen for this time of year and this could certainly be record breaking if the models are correct or especially if it decides to over-perform. For the general metro area we could see anywhere from 15CM along the coast to 30CM inland and up to 35CM at higher elevations and 40CM along the mountains. The Valley should see about 25CM. Outflow has diminished so less blowing snow this time will help produce accumulating snow in the Valley.
I see some of you worried this storm may bust. You need to keep one thing in mind. This is not a typical pineapple express pumping rain right from Hawaii type of system. This is sliding down from the NW dragging cool air with it so the upper levels are cool, and not warm. So there is a major difference with this storm compared to the typical arctic/moisture clash events we see on the coast. Wetbulb will bring the temps back down from any gains we had today as dew points are still quite low across the region.
Interestingly enough, it looks like it may remain snow all day Sunday as flurries, and Monday as well after a slight warmup, and then Monday night may bring another dump of snow. Mid week another surprise is forming, and then another, oh myvery interesting week upcoming! Snow lovers should be excited! Some events will be close calls, but keep an eye on the models.

Snow flakes are starting to fall here at Delta Watershed where the mountain biking on the frozen ground has been a dream to ride on.
Why not try cycling to work, grocery store, anywhere!
