It's much more significative than the daily records.

It sounds like french lingo (the French love to metricize everything after all), but makes perfect sense when you think about it. Daily records are stupid and unimpressive because they are broken all the time.

That would definitely kill off a few folks without A/C. Older people especially.

Re: June 2021 Fotecasts And Discussions
Its true. Snow could potentially harm people as well. I will say that people more commonly have heating than cooling here in the LM because colder temperatures used to be more common and extreme. People need A/C in our current climate because it just gets too hot.Roberts Creeker wrote: ↑Fri Jun 18, 2021 11:08 pm Hopefully it verifies, just like all those fabulous 2 m snow forecasts we drool over.![]()
Also I'm bitter because I hate heatwaves. Enjoy the heat T3...looks like the cooldown is not too far after which should feel extra nice.

So true. Pretty much all the extreme model solutions we see in the medium and long range (cold, snow, wind, rain, heat) get toned down to some extent as the time frame nears.Roberts Creeker wrote: ↑Fri Jun 18, 2021 11:08 pm Hopefully it verifies, just like all those fabulous 2 m snow forecasts we drool over.![]()

Its pretty much set in stone. Heat doesn't disappear from the models like cold does, in my incredibly biased view.

Re: June 2021 Fotecasts And Discussions
Typically you need heating in climates where winter temps average below 5-10c.PortKells wrote: ↑Fri Jun 18, 2021 11:27 pm Its true. Snow could potentially harm people as well. You don't really need A/C unless summer temps average over 30-32c... and even then, with relatively cool nights (below 15-16c), it's not needed. Hence why our current climate does not warrant A/C being built in houses (unlike some locales in southern Ontario).
