PortKells wrote: Thu Dec 01, 2022 6:09 pm It's like clockwork. Environment Canada does this every time. They totally just miss an obvious disruptive snowfall like Tuesday and now oversell this one to compensate. They do it with heat domes, atmospheric rivers but especially snowfalls. I swear sometimes they're doing it out of spite to try to get more funding or something.
I’ve come across countless pieces from gov’t agencies today on social media about the snow for tomorrow. They are making it seem like it will be Tuesday 2.0

I’m wondering if this will cause a lot of people to stay home tomorrow… then when it doesn’t materialize those same people won’t pay any attention the next time.

True but did they the first time? but actually the snowfall warning was put out so late that was a huge blunder.
Anyone remember the big screw up by E.C. early 90's the windstorm that caught those boats off guard lives lost due to inadequate weather forecasting no wind warnings were issued.

No… but they saw the aftermath… so now they are more likely to heed the warnings.

I wouldn't say that EC missed Tuesday's event. They had an alert our out Sunday morning and made it a snowfall warning at 5am. The special weather statement warned of snow - who cares what the alert is called? And their forecast said 10-20 cm two days in advance.

The real issue was that people ignored the forecast - way too many people on the roads Tuesday. And a lot of bad luck with the semis on the Alex Fraser.

I think only a few locales will see 5 cm tomorrow, it does seem like it is being overblown.
