Rose to -2C or -3C today. Out of the freezer!

Saturday was cold as the temp stuck to -27C for a few hours with some insane winds, resulting in wind chill values between -40 and -45C. Here's a video I took when the temp was -18C with light snow/blowing snow.

Well, it’s all relative, and from what I have heard London tends to get a lot less snow than even the Lower Mainland does.

They did get roughly 20 cm in a single storm back in 2009, though, which basically crippled the city until it melted.
It's called clown range for a reason.

Rain shadow warning in effect. Not a drop for hours. I'd imagine it's raining in the mountains, though, and to the north of us. They should adjust the warning for only the north shore, coquitlam north, and Howe Sound.

So much for the cold signal that sure died quickly oh well can only hope the mountains get buried now.
Glad to hear on Global news tonight that the water restrictions have been lifted for the Sunshine Coast.

VanCitySouth wrote: Mon Feb 06, 2023 10:00 am Is this currently a rain shadow or is something else at play? Because radar doesn't look like a classic rain shadow but there's heavy rain on the North Shore and nothing south of the Fraser.

Someone with understanding of what's happening in the sky shed light on this please.
Yah l've seen that in the past it's almost like the atmosphere dries out over the city but precip continues over the north shore mountains.
It's not a rainshadow as much as just dry air over the southern areas l guess perhaps just enough outflow to dry out as well. :dunno:
