This is awesome. :o

Edit: I've seen this setup before where Delta does really well due to some low level convergence over Boundary Bay.

Nordelian wrote: Thu Dec 01, 2022 6:24 pm I wouldn't say that EC missed Tuesday's event. They had an alert our out Sunday morning and made it a snowfall warning at 5am. The special weather statement warned of snow - who cares what the alert is called? And their forecast said 10-20 cm two days in advance.

The real issue was that people ignored the forecast - way too many people on the roads Tuesday. And a lot of bad luck with the semis on the Alex Fraser.

I think only a few locales will see 5 cm tomorrow, it does seem like it is being overblown.
That's right Nords it was mentioned in the SWS, but l'm so use to see the bright red Snowfall Warning.

Who canceled it l suggested in honor of the infamous Jan. 8th 2011 collapse that winter can't be canceled until after that date.

Catnip wrote: Thu Dec 01, 2022 6:13 pm I’ve come across countless pieces from gov’t agencies today on social media about the snow for tomorrow. They are making it seem like it will be Tuesday 2.0

I’m wondering if this will cause a lot of people to stay home tomorrow… then when it doesn’t materialize those same people won’t pay any attention the next time.

Precisely!! They play it too conservatively, get caught flat footed and then they seem to feel like they need to overcompensate, leading to people tuning them out.

I'm still mad at how conservatively they played June 2021. It's like they wanted to prevent panic, but a bit of panic was honestly the right move. I feel strongly that cost lives. I mean I'm an amateur weather nerd nobody and I was telling everyone I knew about 5 days in advance that hell was coming and they would all say "oh EC says low to mid 30's" and I just wanted to scream.

Luckily in August 2021 they were all over it (to be fair a significant heatwave but nothing like June).

The EXACT same scenario played out last November but in the form of rain. Just maddening. They need more funding like asap.
