This is a 500mb setup conducive to a significant AR event. MJO proceeding to phase 7/8 by week 2. Waiting for the models to converge on this.

Most impressive cold snaps were preceeded by these regimes. If this pattern fails to come to fruition and a REX block reappears than this goes against the norm...the blob is an influencer.

There seems to be pretty good confidence this pattern will come to fruition. Let's hope. Maybe we can get an October 2003 or January 2005 style AR event? :clap: 8-)
