It seems like, for the first time in a long time, the downslope winds of Anussiz are taking a day off.

In the February 2019 cold that never ended..

The more exposed to wind the better for keeping temps low during the day. The opposite of at night.

3.2C here currently. Only got down to -0.8C last night.

A bit breezy at times, nothing major. Wind warning was dropped a while ago.

Mark Madryga today said this is the coldest February since 37 in Vancouver.

For YVR it's the coldest on record.

Cooler than I expected today. High of 4.8C. Nothing like what we saw just eight years ago though...

On this day in 2011, YVR recorded a high of -0.7C under clear skies. Pretty crazy for this time of year.

850mb temps still near -10C a week from today. Can we just get some moisture already

That was a pretty cold airmass. 850mb temps likely below -15C on the south coast.

Looks like the 18Z wants to give us another cold snap in March.

DP down to -11. Should be plenty cold tonight in wind sheltered areas, especially where there is snow cover.

Yup it will remain well cold enough for snow for the next while. We just need some moisture. In fact, above 0C surface temps right now would not matter because of the well below 0C dew points. Moisture would lower the surface temps. Lets just get some moisture ok? I'd be okay with a low stalling off Van Island. Offshore flow with moisture overrunning cold arctic air?

But thats unlikely to happen.

I felt the wind warning was a bit unnecessary. Models didn't look to bring that strong of an outflow.

So what happened to Nito's 8c to 11c downsloping effect for today!

I'm rather impressed at how deep this cold is even EC has quite the chilly temps in the interior for this week, I thought this would be just run of the mill cold I'm thinking lets get some moisture for one more shot.

Starting to get into unprecedented territory with the lack of snowfall here compared with other PNW locations.

I wonder if we've ever had a winter where Eugene, Portland, Seattle and Victoria have all had more snowfall than Vancouver. This is probably a first
