I remember hearing John Paschold mentioning a record @ YVR for snowfall in a day l believe.
46.4cm of snow fell at YVR between the afternoon of January 6th, 1991 and the early morning of January 9th, 1991.

Gradual warmup for a couple days after the December 30th snowstorm (dropped ~25-50cm across Metro Vancouver in 36hrs), but with little rain. Melt occurred but snowpack held on. Forecast originally was for warmup with rain, but the cold air returned with another snowstorm between Jan 6th and 9th that dropped another 25-50cm. Resulted in 60cm+ snow depth in most areas across Metro Vancouver.

Recall Nito talking about this one as well back in Dec 2016, when a few model runs showed something similar.
That period remains unmatched in my lifetime in the Okanagan for cold and the strength of the winds on that second shot. I got a concussion and a broken elbow in a sledding accident the night that reinforcing shot barged in. Coming out of the hospital late that night it was like a blizzard in Kelowna. There were reports of waves splashing over the floating bridge. I'll have to check the records with EC, but I think it got to -35 in Kelowna the following night. My folks took pictures of that January as it produced massive amounts of snowfall in Kelowna that January. From my memory and the pictures my parents took, it was more than officially recorded.

Still didn't compare to the greatest multi-day snowstorm in Vancouver history!

Yeah the second arctic blast in December 1990 was intense. Arctic front barreled through on the evening of December 27th into December 28th.

Temps at YVR dropped from 5c during the afternoon of the 27th to -13c by the evening of the 28th. Snowstorm moved in a day later, late afternoon on the 29th and lasted all day on the 30th.

You're right on the money about Kelowna. Airport dropped to -34.8c on the morning of the 28th: https://climate.weather.gc.ca/climate_d ... &Year=1990

Yup its funny l remember they cancelled school that week and on the last
day of the event l remember the snow that evening turning to mixed l was listening to the Canucks playing the New York Rangers in NY.
I could be wrong but the Knuckles may have won 2-1.

Canucks played the Rangers on the 12th, right in the middle of the snowstorm. Lost 4-2. Snow continued to fall for two days after that game.

If Mike is on board that's a positive, Mark mentions it l'm surprised this far out he's usually conservative.
