Maybe..I just felt like its a little cold cheering on the drought when there's literally members here who have houses and cabins at risk. Not to mention other ones who will really be impacted by the smoke due to underlying health conditions. But at the end of the day we don't control it. I just feel like its a tense situation right now and a little empathy goes a long way. Its like if someone's house was about to collapse due to 2 metres of snow and we were sitting here hoping and praying for another 20 cm and -35 wind chill.
Either way, cheers and enjoy the sunshine.

My personal preferences ultimately have no control on what happens weather wise. I hope the interior and those areas that are at high risk from fire get a good soaking soon. If you're implying I don't feel empathy for towns like Lytton or all the people who are now homeless, you could not be more wrong.

Locally I'll cheer for warm and dry conditions because we seldom get this weather on a consistent basis outside of a month or two every year.

Oh, I get it. Thanks for helping me polish up my arsenal of dad jokes. With three kids ages 1-4 I feel like a door mat. I'm exhausted, so I wish I could be dormant. Life is a busy blur right now so I'm an infrequent appearance.

Onto meteorology: looks like Abbotsford will have recorded not even a trace of rain by Thursday morning, which would be 30 days. That's gotta be a record. "No measurable rain" = T. "No rain" = 0.00mm.

To your last sentence. These insane dry stretches are happening all the time now. We barely get rain from March to October. Sometimes in June like last year, yes. We've had something like 15 straight warmer than average summers and the majority of those were dry. I know you keep saying how rare dry stretches are here but outside of winter I'm just not seeing it. Two straight driest springs on record? Followed by last year's top 10 warm summer (with a bit of rain thankfully) and now this summer's mind blowing heat wave and drought conditions. This is becoming the norm, not a rarity.

Also generally cool and troughy conditions effect both the coast and the interior so given that connection, warm and dry here will mean warmer and drier there outside of maybe a few passing thunderstorms in the interior. If we can get rain here then the interior should get some as well. That in turn would prevent more Lyttons from happening.

This is all a result of global warming. So keep in mind its going to keep getting warmer and drier and that means less snow and cold in the winter.

Not sure of the longest dry streak for Vancouver l recall it's 40 plus day's if my failing memory serves me correct.
