18Z Euro was a bit drier for the southern half of the province.

I'm still getting the feeling this is going to be one of those times when everyone is expecting rain, the models are showing rain and then it fizzles as it arrives and we end up getting 1/2 of the amounts advertised at best. Who knows though.

00Z Icon is horrible.

Just watch as the precip fizzles as it approaches the Lower Mainland.

The interior needs rain. Serious situation there tonight

“August 5 1900 Update
The White Rock Lake wildfire is displaying extremely vigorous surface and active crown fire. Steady southwesterly winds continue to push the fire northeast. BC Wildfire Service personnel and RCMP are on-site tactically evacuating those who have chosen to remain in Evacuation Orders area in the Monte Lake and Westwold area. Tactical evacuations may not always be possible and put first responders at risk. In a volatile wildfire situation such as this one, first responders and other authorized personnel may not be able to reach an evacuated area because of a risk to their own safety or because access routes are blocked. Evacuation routes can change rapidly and quickly become impassable due to a wildfires behaviour. This afternoon the White Rock Lake wildfire breached Highway 97 just south of Monte Lake. If you have received an Evacuation Order, please leave the area immediately egressing south towards Vernon.”

Well, the ICON basically said no, but the GFS is trying. Just not nearly enough.

Given we don't see a fall pattern set up earlier than usual, we're still in the running for one of the driest Jun-Aug periods in recorded history. Maybe even Jun-Sep if the fall rains hold off for longer.
