Less than 24 hours from this event and the models are struggling again!!
I usually pay attention at the 48 hour mark
I'm still going with flakes in the air and no accumulations. Low is too far SW buttees
Looking forward to our first 3 day stretch of sun and 20c++ 8-)

Well, you guys made the news even in Edmonton with your total failure to be prepared on Tuesday.
The lack of sand and fine gravel on the hills and bridges is what caused this. Salt isn't good enough on it's own.

Yes, EC should have posted the actual snowfall warning the night before. Doing it the morning of is already too late to plan correctly.

When all the traffic hell broke loose, they should have had an emergency alert go out to stay off the roads. Utter stupidity.

Ok, let's get to the SNOW! :alert:

Currently things look colder than expected. Cold air really settled in, and the outflow from the FV is doing a pretty good job even though it's not raging too far west.

There are some odd forecasts out there.

I think you will see between 5 to 10cm across the region. A little less in the outflow zones.
Should start tomorrow afternoon, almost like the Tuesday storm. Yes, less amounts are forecast, but roads are now frozen, snow cover kept temps down. The roads will turn to ice FAST! Even with lighter accumulations. So we have a different situation that could lead to a similar situation. :?

The modeled warm up looks way too quick and too high for Saturday. Again, perhaps near the actual water, but not so sure about inland and higher elevations. Then we head into an unstable week that could see some sun/flurries all week.

So yes, it will snow again tomorrow! :flakey:

Note: Models were a bit off as usual for Tuesdays storm. The valley didn't get as much snow as modeled probably due to evaporation in the outflow.

Was that right around the American Thanksgiving Tbones? 09/10 was the mild Olympic winter.

Good find, thanks for sharing. Old winter pics/vids are always cool to see.

Flashback to that top tier cold snap where we didn't go above freezing for two weeks... Also when YVR had a high of -9c and low of -14c with snow.

It was November 2010, not 2009.

But yes, it was around American Thanksgiving.

Winter 09/10 was a heaping pile of garbage. We did have a backdoor blast in early December 2009 featuring :anus: outflow winds though!

By the way, has any ice formed on any of the local lakes, ponds, small rivers or even the Fraser yet? Curious.

Good Q Wpro l was going to ask the members that have knowledge of this of course in Chilliwack we lack local ponds for skating well l have a pond l live in but that's a long story, Wpro since you left. we have cats, dogs, birds it's a zoo here now, we adopted an El Nino that no one wanted too.
Can't forget we rescued Forrest Gump from Gilligan's island also. a talking Ms. Creeks with no water.
