Absolutely stunning mid winter weather coming up increasing NE winds this afternoon and continues tomorrow for the entire fraser valley clearing this murky gunk we have this morning.
Expect crystal blue bird skies tomorrow through Saturday enjoy this sneek peak of spring weather this weekend.
It's a murky drizzly plus 5c @ the only pond in south Sardis.

So here we are..it looks like a 45 day stretch in the dead of winter..
From Jan 2 -Feb 16, and then who knows how much longer..with no artic air and maybe a cupla slushy events.

Taking a tour of webcams from all around BC & Alberta, VISUALLY it looks like the end of winter. Everything is melting or melted and even the Coq looks gross. Even Calgary doesn't look cold anymore. No matter what happens or what changes here, BC always gets screwed for winter. This winter had so much promise with a nice early start and then Nito's favourite weather kicked in. Chilly & Fog and depression everywhere. No winter storms, no more snow. Kelowna looks like spring is kicking in there too.

Taking a tour of webcams from all around BC & Alberta, VISUALLY it looks like the end of winter. Everything is melting or melted and even the Coq looks gross. Even Calgary doesn't look cold anymore. No matter what happens or what changes here, BC always gets screwed for winter. This winter had so much promise with a nice early start and then Nito's favourite weather kicked in. l must say Doghead this post absolutely brought me to tears. l must say as well the promise of an epic winter looked so positive at Christmas.
But if you look back on how abruptly the models shifted east with the cold and appeared to have locked it in with only a brief glimmer of a retrogression for afew short model runs it appeared it was over.
And on that disappointment came the El Nito winter death ridge that looks to continue endlessly until the heat dome returns in summer.
On that note initially l had given this winter an A+ but my disappointment in this student this winter all l can muster is a C+

Plus I wasn't hoping to see the snow melt in the Mountains prior to March. This puts us back into a precarious situation if we don't see Mountain snow the rest of the way.

Think positive there buttees...at least we won't get pumbled by another flood from freshet?

They're already complaining about low snowpack. You can never win. If it's 99.999% of normal, we are screwed for drought in the summer. If it's 100.00000001% of normal, we are going to massive flooding. Snowpack is only 90% of normal here in the Okanagan.

Darn Jonah and his machine learning. It nailed it. All the models showed our cold continuing back around the start of Jan, except his.

It was supposed to clear according to the forecast this morning today, but it didn't. It also is murky up on the mountains.

The models look decent for a -PNA snowpack boosting period coming up in about a week. I'm conflicted because it means rain which has been kind of nice to avoid lately. But we need some snowpack now for sure.

Yes, what happened to all our joyously expected feeeetzzzz? It was an amazing 2 week stretch of winter but I did expect more than that.

Bit of fog in the morning but it cleared up. personally I like the fog, we don't get it too often here and it's a nice break from cloudy imo.

I want to look forward to spring but several model runs like these make me fear the inevitable return.

Don't worry, they'll just saunter off into summer a day at a time.
