Not that it really means anything, the evolution this June and July seems similar to 1896. Precip shut off mid June, with a late June heatwave and a bone dry July.

Later that year we got slammed with an arctic blast rivaling that of November '85, where temps hovered between -15c and 0c for two weeks.

l didn't look further into that winter how did it fair for us T3 aka headache man.

So I just read that the Brenda Creek wildfire is threatening the only transmission line that feeds West Kelowna. If that line goes down, the power in the entire city would be out.

From what I understand, they are planning on building a secondary line but that project has not been completed yet. Hopefully the line is okay. A major power outage would not be good at all.

l'm actually surprised with the amount of fires we get per summer that these threats are not more frequent.
Is it the transmission lines are in open area's not surrounded by forests?

Yeah that's a tough one Glace, l've never lost anything in a fire but l couldn't phathom the thought and anxiety.

My family member's house burned down in the Big Stick fire. Decades of memories up in smoke. The original owner from passed away a year ago so didn't have to learn of its fate, but her 40 year old grandson went and discovered the house's fate with my brother yesterday. Needless to say, a few tears were in their eyes.

At least no one was hurt or killed. Had other homes not been evacuated the night before, there's no way some would have made it out in time.
