I didn't experience Thunder/lightning but I was inside a store just around 2PM in Langley and all of a sudden I was hearing loud noises. It was the hail pounding down that was causing the noise.

Yes I think the ENSO is playing a role in the forecasts I have been seeing today. The heat dome looks to be anchored further into the country this Summer according to Tyler Hamilton instead of being focused in BC. Ontario, for example, will have to worry about the scorching heat this time.

Still no guarantees. The summer forecast for 2022 was for the heat ridge to be centred east of BC. However, in late July we saw a prolonged heatwave. Temperatures in Abbotsford were above 30C with high dew points for 7 days straight. Less intense than June 2021 but still very uncomfortable and for a longer duration. But to be fair, seasonal forecasts are based on averages, not individual weather events. We will have to wait and see how this summer unfolds.

The latest GFS has a very progressive pattern at 500mb for the next 16 days. It shows trough ridge trough ridge.
