I am one of those controllers and unfortunately we aren't legally permitted to make such observations. The tweet itself is a bit sensationalist. There was never any danger to aircraft. We pulled several aircraft off the approach and made sure all departures were vectored away from the weather.

You may or may not know Arbes does E.C. have an observer out there still? I'm guessing they do.
I remember years ago pre Airport Square day's when E.C. was out on Cowley Cresent, went for a tour back in 1972 fun times then.
The observation deck was on the roof of a 2 storey bldg.

Sounds like they’ve officially determined it was a tornado AT UBC.

Wind warning up now for the Sunshine Coast.

Very breezy out had one good that sent the leaves flying past the window. Guess I'd better get out the saucepan for water incase the power goes out. I'd just put it away

First tornado on the south coast since 2018. Before that, the last one was in 1988.

Yeah I think the thing that concerned me was that the GOA vortex started spinning hard on that run which has been unbelievably persistent these last few winters. But I definitely believe this winter is going to be better than the last two, no doubts on that.
