When you make a bold statement such as "no chance" then you are risking being wrong. He obviously knows that and to be honest, I agreed with him based on what the models were showing. But surprisingly, the models have done a complete shift to a much colder scenario in the past few runs. But this is not a lock yet either. Still lots of time for it to collapse but for now we can love the trends and hope it verifies.

I mean these runs HAVE to start moderating fairly soon.

Not so fun fact but there are still over 100 active fires in central and Northeast BC. Some of these “zombie fires” will smolder underground and re-emerge in the spring.

Some are due to former pit sites where organic material is buried . These fires are similar to coal mine fires which can smoulder under the soil for many years. The real danger is the fact that there are some areas where railroad ties were dumped into, and these were often treated with creosote

Snowcover can actually act as an insulator which can protect these underground fires!
