From what I understand looking further into it is that Gibraltar has a population similar to the Yukon, some 35,000 people. That means a couple of clusters can really skew results. They had a lot of cases and deaths back in January, but after quick vaccination their cases dropped to almost zero. Of course, the Delta variant means more cases of late, but not as many as January.PortKells wrote: ↑Sat Sep 25, 2021 11:34 am I don't tend to compare us to most places as we have more wealth, access to health care, education, etc. Also the Gibraltar thing is just silly. Show me the death rate after they got their population vaxxed, otherwise it appears you might have an agenda. The vaccines are quite clearly working at about the efficacy they were expected to work. Very few hospitalizations and deaths, and those who did were generally immunocompromised or immuno suppressed.

What's the difference there compared with the current restrictions for the rest of the province?SouthSardiswx wrote: ↑Tue Sep 28, 2021 10:08 pm Restrictions in place again in the central valley that's absolutely insane.![]()

Re: Covid Pandemic
It's crazy Trex cases are the highest out here in the central valley so there's a limit on gatherings if your un vaxxed. Businesses are not affected and so on it seems almost like punishment for those not vaxxed police state soon Trex.

Also masks required in all offices & indoor workplaces, regardless of vax status.

Re: Covid Pandemic
In the Fraser Valley? I didn't not hear this.
Over 90% vaccinated in Metro Vancouver now, and over 80% in the Fraser Valley.
I noticed that Peru had a massive 3rd wave with over 1000 deaths per day (they're smaller than Canada), but their 4th wave is only 40 per day because they're double masking and such.
BTW, here are the death rates by province.

Re: Covid Pandemic
https://bc.ctvnews.ca/new-covid-19-rule ... -1.5603899Henry said transmission in indoor workplaces has been a concern in the eastern Fraser Valley, and businesses will need to update their COVID-19 safety plans to include the requirement that masks must be worn indoors, with some exemptions (including that workers are behind a barrier or in a room by themselves) and safety considerations.
Interesting that Abbotsford is now part of the "eastern Fraser Valley" according to the government.
I also find it strange when I hear that vaccination rates are low in the valley. Everyone I know around here is vaccinated. It's kinda funny, but the two most anti-vaccination people I know live in Burnaby and New West.

Re: Covid Pandemic
Isn't that already required, province wide? I'm pretty sure masks are mandatory in all indoor settings.

Re: Covid Pandemic
I think the province-wide restrictions only apply to public spaces. That would encompass quite a few workplaces, though. The difference seems to be that even private workplaces are included in the Fraser Valley mandate.

Re: Covid Pandemic
I work in an office without public customers, so we don't wear masks. Plus, we are an office of just 3 (although 1 of the other guys isn't vaccinated).

Re: Covid Pandemic
The new benchmark is 90% vaccination rate. here is the latest government graph. They had to add a note that the almost 100% rate in Vancouver Coastal is not a mistake. Not exactly sure how this could be possible, but I assume it's because a lot of UBC students from elsewhere in BC got the shot at UBC.
