Re: December 2023 Forecasts and Discussions
Canadian ensembles paint a different picture and put us in a wet pattern as we head towards Christmas.
EPS doesn't shift the ridging eastward like the Cdn. Extended could go either way I guess.

Re: December 2023 Forecasts and Discussions
Not exactly the driest pattern. A bit drier than normal but nothing to worry about. We have to expect a drier and more benign winter under a moderate el nino, that is normal. If this were a very strong el nino, we would be getting more storms and more active weather similar to 15/16 and I belive 82/83. But moderate El ninos are pretty boring around here

We're now at the darkest point as far as evenings goes. We won't get any darker in terms of sunsets. Cherry blossoms rejoice!

Re: December 2023 Forecasts and Discussions
Rain moves in tomorrow morning changing to wet snow by noon for areas generally north of the border, and higher elevations. I do expect sea level in those areas to see snow as well and areas 50-100m+ above sea level will probably see at least slush accumulate 1/2
https://twitter.com/ElijahBman/status/1 ... 1888058750As this system approaches it will pull in easterly wind and give us relative heavy precip rates which should allow us to see heavy wet snow. Which will make roads slippery. Maybe 0-5cm below 100m and up to 10cm for higher elevs.

Re: December 2023 Forecasts and Discussions
My guess is that areas below 300m elevation will be mostly rain. This will not be a widespread accumulating snow event. Sorry to say.
