It is not a sure thing, in fact the odds disfavour it, but there is a very real chance the snowier GFS scenario will verify. Models sometimes have difficulty predicting when cold air will scour out. Unexpectedly tenacious cold air has played a role in some of our best lowland snow events.
It's called clown range for a reason.

It's crazy because If you look at Environment Canada's forecast you would expect a few showers then clearing

You can't really forecast this. The NAM picked it up this morning first.
