Like I said, April foolery is best when it’s something totally outlandish, and a forecast of up to 10cm really wasn’t all that outlandish, given the current pattern. Everyone acts like April snow is unprecedented when it happens, but I’ve seen it happen more than once. It’s unusual, to be sure, but hardly unprecedented.

“Up to 10cm” means up to that much in the most favored areas (Burnaby Mountain, etc). Hardly unprecedented in early April. And IIRC, your initial post was silent as to whether the accumulation would happen during the daytime or not.

I remember having snowfall (wasn't a ton) in 4 out of 5 aprils in a row (probably between 2007-2012ish); one year it was closer to mid april and we had several inches of accumulation (early morning).

Today's accumulation was about an inch of wet slop at my elevation; I'll bet the upper areas got more. Had my kids shovel it up for the tenants

Interesting, thanks for posting this! I remember April 14th my house received MUCH more than a trace - I lived (at the time) closer to centra/east Abbosford, about 260ft up. We had far more than a trace on that morning, I remember waking up to between 5-10cm (probably right in between) of snow, I think a cloud must have hung around our area that morning. I literally couldn't believe it being so late in the season lol. It melted very quickly, was gone in the afternoon.

14th April 2011 was the last significant April snowfall where I am in East Coquitlam. Picked up a quick ~5cm in a two hour period around 3-5pm.

l had to laugh El Nito's April fools joke actually darn near turned into reality. We had about 3cm fall here in south Sumas.

Spring of 2008 was very similar to this year (so far). A bit dry with northerly flow dominating until mid May when there was a heat wave. I remember the early April snowfall of 08 there was about 2 cm on the ground in New West where I was living at the time. On another note the 00z is super dry in the long range looking similar to the pattern we just had in mid-March.
