Reached a peak depth of 15 cm at my place in West Kelowna. Still snowing lightly, but the temperature is hovering around 2 degrees so there is a fair bit of melting happening. Definitely unreal for October

If not, next time I see him I'll put him in a headlock and give him a noogie or two.

I couldn't post all day but when I drove to work this morning between 7am to 8am there was mixed snow and rain falling in my area and up towards Guildford Mall. It was very noticeable. The temp was 2.5.

Re: October 2020 Forecasts and Discussions
High of 5.8c today here in east coquitlam.
Low clouds are starting to break and can see some fresh snow on golden ears and burke mountain.
Looks like we will clear out completely by 9/10pm so a widespread freeze is likely tonight.

Re: October 2020 Forecasts and Discussions
Does anyone else think the wind is going to prevent a freeze tonight? I noticed EC has a low of 3C, so perhaps that's their thinking as well. We may have to wait until Saturday morning for a widespread freeze, and Sunday morning should be below freezing basically everywhere.

Re: October 2020 Forecasts and Discussions
I suspect temps may increase tonight into tomorrow as dry air funnels out of the valley. Airmass isnt as dense as a mid winter one. Dry airmass + stable winds should see max lows by Sunday into Monday.

Re: October 2020 Forecasts and Discussions
I'm thinking we could see some record lows on Sunday morning if the winds are calm by then. Monday will depend on whether skies remain mostly clear; it could be similar to Sunday morning, but that's a ways out still.

Re: October 2020 Forecasts and Discussions
As long as the outflow winds are going, I doubt it will freeze. That can only happen if the winds die down and it’s nighttime. The air will be plenty dry, which will help with heat loss in such a situation.wetcoast91 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 23, 2020 8:06 pm I suspect temps may increase tonight into tomorrow as dry air funnels out of the valley. Re: October 2020 Forecasts and Discussions
I was working in Victoria today. Pretty raw out there with a heavy wind blown mist on a NE wind most of the afternoon. Almost looked like a bit of an arctic front signature on radar across the South Island in the last hour. With the steady precip exiting to the SE and some showers popping up and moving in from the NE.

00z HRDPS forecast lows for tomorrow morning followed by Sunday morning. Definitely looks like we may struggle to freeze tonight but Sunday morning looks really chilly.
