Abby_wx wrote: Thu Dec 22, 2022 10:15 am Yup. I was 2C colder last December, but I wasn't really expecting to beat that. Winds were much lighter at that time.

Anyway, it's more about the wind chill in the valley than the temperature.

Speaking of the wind, I've heard that drifting snow been a major issue around YXX for the past couple of days.
Putting it in to perspective Abby Sr. oh and by the way when l left Abbs late last night finally the Marshall Rd/Sumas area the roads were finally plowed down to more bare pavement.
Much better but had to drive in that half mush concoction for afew days.
Anyway's driving to work Highway 1 drifting snow in spots but manageable but driving into work you could see a haze of blowing snow in Abbs and Chilliwack in the lights of the city's it looked cool almost like a mist and it was over a wide area of both city's.

The RGEM shows the temperature and dew point rising above zero with heavy rain on Saturday. However, it keeps the NE outflow going through the afternoon. This makes no sense to me. Given the deeply entrenched arctic airmass and the significant cold to draw from in the interior, I'm confused as to how the temperature and dew point would rise above zero in this situation. Perhaps warm air aloft mixing down to the surface? But even at that, I find it hard to believe we could push out this cold with a continuous NE outflow. What are everyone's thoughts?

The lobes have a bit of a particular shape though

And it's info. like that the majority will believe unless they know the reality of it or follow the weather models which l doubt.

12z Euro recap. It begins the snow around midnight or just slightly before. Snows all night and into the morning. Then transitions to sleet and freezing rain from SW to NE over Metro Vancouver starting at 900am. All of Metro Vancouver is under freezing rain by 1100am and then plain rain by 0200pm. The Euro actually is quite robust with the warming and so the Fraser Valley escapes an ice storm for the most part.

Oh thank goodness, l've absolutely enjoyed this week but to be honest looking forward to milder weather just for a reset.
Call it old perhaps but not so much as -5c and snow would have been great too.

Bonovox wrote: Thu Dec 22, 2022 10:21 am You know, looking at the 12z HRDPS sounding for 0400pm tomorrow. That is VERY close to staying all snow. Probably just model noise, but thought it would be worth pointing out.
Thank you for the explanation, I haven't figured those graphs out yet.

No problem. They are called T-skew graphs if you ever want to read about them!
