Do you still have hope we finally get an epic January?

Looks like we may have to gear up for another cold or snowy Feb if those analogues ('89-90 and '13-14) come to fruition. 1995-96 offers us hope for a decent mid to late January period, however.

Not sure about epic...that would be John's prediction.

Still thinking late Dec into early Jan could be the time to watch for some cold/snow for us. Cold staying locked in thru late month is obviously unlikely.

January 1996 was actually really good. From about the middle to the end of the month the temperatures stayed around or just below freezing, with a number of snowfalls. Abbotsford recorded 67.3 cm of snow that month. Looks similar to December 2016, except snowier. 8-)

Yeah. Jan '96 was very decent from about mid-month onwards. Certainly better than anything we've seen in January since.

Cold N/NW flow from the 15th thru the 27th with many moderate wet snowfalls followed by a quick hitting arctic blast (-4.5C/-11.8C on the 28th and 29th in Vancouver) to close out the month.

By the way things look now, I don't think anything will lock in West or East. The season is shaping up to be full of wild swings back and forth. In line with Tyler Hamiltons winter forecast. Joe Bastardi is of course predicting epic cold for the latter half of the winter in the east.

Ugh I hope not, I'm tired of these February blasts. Give me one in December or January please. :x
