The new norm is rug pulls for wet cool weather in summer and cold and wet in winters.
Forever heat domes. :?

Ensemble mean drops below and then hovers fairly close to average after Saturday on both the GFS and GEM ensembles. Looks like some precip chances too.

Humidity recovery has been very poor in the interior tonight. 18% humidity at Ashcroft at midnight. Expect volatile fire behaviour earlier in the day for the interior tomorrow

Meant more frequent heat domes in summer leading to more inversion domes in winter.

Gross 😝 winds have turned off shore in the central valley and an upper layer of smoke is covering the entire central valley.

I gotta say, I am VERY tolerant of heat. To be honest I have yet to personally feel like I'm suffering this summer. That's not to say that I haven't been hot- I definitely have been. Let's face it, I'm hot all the time, har, har. :D  But I digress.

Anyway, it's been a scorcher for sure but I suppose I'm in the minority that I've not minded too much. However my good conscience is not happy with how things are simply because of the disastrous consequences. I don't personally hate this summer for my own liking and comfort but I KNOW this just isn't good news and causes so much suffering. The heat I can deal with. It's the smoke that I CANNOT handle due to my chronic health issues. I hated summers 2017-2018 so much more than this year. But I cannot say I'm happy about what's happening this summer either in the big picture, I'm just tolerant of it, I suppose.

The one thing is that it's been entertaining for weather stats. I've had my station since the end of 2016 and my previous all-time record high was 36.6C set in 2018, I think it was. I blew that out of the water with a whopping 43C in June. Then about 2 weeks ago I hit 37.2C which would have been impressive and a new record if not for the heat dome in June. And NOW it looks like I could blast THAT record sometime in the next 3 days. It's just crazy. And then when you factor in the long dry streak, 2021 is just staggering on many levels.

What remains to be seen is whether this is a once in a lifetime summer or if this is going to become "normal."

The air smells absolutely gross out here in the central valley. It's warm with the NE breeze I'm at 22.8c it's gone up a couple degrees since the wind picked up the smoke has filtered down to ground level somewhat too. 😫
I see the forecast has been watered down this weekend for next to nothing for precip and early next week we begin to climb temperature wise again, ding ding round 4!

Im noticing a lot of people on here posting about the fires in the Interior   and yes thats part of BC too. Shouldnt these go into a separate thread? According to L1 and L2 they should be
Looking forward to our first 3 day stretch of sun and 20c++ 8-)
