Guess l didn't miss much other than the fact all the local mountains have disappeared in the central valley desert due to smoke aloft and some smoke at ground level. :o Hoping Stuffos and family were able to catch a glimpse of the local mountains this week in their new home before things went sideways.  20250904_115348.jpg
We went to Prospera centre park last night.

Massive fire on the Coquihalla
They initially were going to let it burn as it was not a danger to anything.

Sucks it blew up like it did. Ended up crossing the highway and is now threatening properties up there.

Summit is evacuated.

I really hope the lodge won't be affected. The owner was pretty worried when I spoke to him.

No power up there as the fire took out a bunch of hydro lines.

The snowmobile cam is still up as I believe it has battery backup/solar.

I'm pretty sure I saw ash on the van today. I watched the video of the driver going on the coquihalla. It's pretty incredible

The deterministic models are trending way drier. Just a few showers possible tonight and tomorrow and then mostly dry next week. Now, even the system for next weekend is splitting apart in the 00z Euro and GFS models. Only the Canadian model is showing a good rain next weekend. We might not be out of the smoke show for a while.

The deterministic GFS run is unimpressive for rainfall totals. Especially for the lower mainland basically get nothing but a couple light showers.

Ensembles a bit better for some rain in the next couple weeks.

I know it's easy to forget about because of sparse population and other fires that are getting all the media/social media attention (I'm looking at you Mine creek fire) but I'm not exaggerating when i say the WEST CHILCOTIN IS ON FIRE. This reminds me of 2017. Thank goodness it's September and seasonal climatology will ensure that this won't last too long. But having said that another week or two of this will still be disastrous. Anahim lake, Nimpo lake even Charlotte lake and much of the surrounding region has been evacuated.Tatla lake is going to be evacuated, basically anywhere west of Redstone could be in major trouble. You can't have 2.5 weeks of temperatures over 30 degrees in a region that's a tinderbox at the best of times, full of beetle kill and drought stressed trees and rarely sees that kind of sustained heat and dryness even in July and August and not expect this.
This map is for next Saturday! The fire danger remains extreme and the fire spread remains significant

Let’s think positive now. EC has it very showery for the entire run for Abbotsford. They even threw a day in there with H 15c.
Bono approved.

It's because I didn't get a rain gauge yet. Once I get a rain gauge, we will get lots of rain.

When you say lodge, is it the Coquihalla Lakes Lodge? That's the only one that I know of. Hopefully that and the Britton Creek rest area escaped the fire.
I've fished/camped at Murray Lake, it has several cottages. And Borookmere area also has about a dozen or more properties.

Have you been hanging out up there again this summer?

Yes correct, sorry should have specified.

With the big floods a few years ago followed by a couple really large fires, that area has been hit hard recently.

Was up there last month and hoping to get back up there again in the next few weeks, depending on what happens.

Looks much better up there today, thankfully.

Some thunderstorms just south of the border moving NW.

Could clip some of the far western areas of Metro.
