Yuppers 12 hour shifts, mostly inside office work. Night shift is ezzy pezzy, get's busy at times not as much truck traffic though, without giving to much info. Also involves weighing trucks for crossing into U.S. B.C. Trucker man has a good idea what l do and Jr. man dropped by my work almost 2 years ago to pick up the weather station l sold him.
4 on 4 off l've done dayshift crazy busy not for me.

YVR hourly observations show a little mixed precip and wet snow at 22:00 and 23:00. Nothing new obviously fell overnight here. Yup, snow bust.

A bust for snow, but a win for the models. The way the temperatures were spiking and that both the ECMWF and the GFS agreed on paltry precip amounts should make this no surprise. It’s why I wasn’t expecting much.
It's called clown range for a reason.

Honestly I'm happy with how we had those nice daytime flurries and avoided the cold rain to make things sloppy here. I kind of wanted to see poor EC get just one thing right but its appearing to be an impossible task.

If I can use model guidance to come up with a better forecast than the supposed professionals can, then the professionals (or, more likely, the organization that employs them) would seem to have issues.

I told my friends that it's sort of all over the place and I wouldn't be surprised if it was a nothing burger. I think EC should do NWS style forecast discussions because I'm sure they would be able to explain themselves in a write-up, but that might cause a flare-up of the governmental diseases, bureaucratitis and budgetitis.
