GFS is looking a little lost in the mid/long range. 971mb low off the coast of N Cal in May?

Re: May 2019 Forecasts and Discussions
There was a big landslide off of Joffre Peak into the Cerise Creek valley. Thankfully no injuries and deaths reported and no vehicles were parked at the trailhead entrance.

No kidding, that's a very popular area nowadays. Went fishing and camping there 35 years ago when nobody knew about it , there was a very primitive parking lot there and just pitched a tent nearby. Mosquitos were really bad though.tyweather wrote: ↑Tue May 14, 2019 12:04 pm There was a big landslide off of Joffre Peak into the Cerise Creek valley. Re: May 2019 Forecasts and Discussions
Looking at pics of that landslide reminds me that we're approaching the 39th anniversary on May 18 of the largest landslide in recorded history. Well, that landslide caused another much larger event seconds later. It took out many critters, 57 people, and many trees. After visiting the place in 2012, the habitat has made a remarkable comeback. Can anyone guess what this event this is?

Must have been the volcanic eruption of Mt St Helens , I know exactly where I was when it happened . I was fishing (Mattman wrote: ↑Wed May 15, 2019 5:57 am Looking at pics of that landslide reminds me that we're approaching the 39th anniversary on May 18 of the largest landslide in recorded history. I was a little kid and remember the boom from the volcano. My parents thought I had fallen off the bed or something.

Clear skies tonight? And will the aurora borealis move south enough for us to see? It sure would be awesome.
