Next snow for the South Coast is only 10.5 days away!

Iguanas are not native to Florida and the cold-blooded reptiles struggle to maintain their core body temperature when temperatures drop. The struggle results in the reptiles becoming stiff, immobile and, thus, much more likely to fall out of trees, where they usually sleep.

When fully grown, iguanas can be up to 5 feet long and weigh up to 25 pounds. Such large lizards falling from trees can damage sidewalks and could cause injury to unaware humans who don't normally prepare for raining reptiles.

To warn the public, the National Weather Service (NWS) office in Miami issued an unofficial falling iguana alert on Tuesday night.
Sure enough, iguanas were seen falling out of trees during the overnight hours. By Wednesday morning, as the sunshine warmed up the air, iguanas began emerging from their cold-induced slumber and returning to consciousness. Frank Guzman, the Broward bureau chief for WSVN-TV, captured video of a zombie-like iguana lying on its back unconscious on the sidewalk, and then slowly waking up and staggering to its feet.

It doesn't look like it's all bad news for the North Shore mountains. The 18z GFS shows M-F next week as being fairly cool with moisture. This weekend freezing levels should be around the ski area bases.

Yea lots of negative 850mb temperatures after Friday. So it shouldn’t be too bad for the local mountains.

I’m not an avalanche forecaster. But I wonder if that cold snap last week with that cold powder snow will create a weak layer under the heavy wet snow that’s coming.

I’m no avalanche forecaster, either, but I’ve read about avalanches and heavy wet snow on top of light powder snow is indeed a classic scenario for high avalanche risk.

I'll be trying to further improve performance of the website by using a lite CDN, meaning it's not a full-blown one yet, but it will start to serve some of the content on faster servers to hopefully improve the speed of the page loads etc.

Could you also try to improve the performance of this winter while your at it. it's hard to believe we even had that last week was it all a dream we were in it started out promising with epic cold and re loads modelled but turned into the one night stand type of cold.

Good news is I now have lake front property. Had to shovel the rain into the drain.

My summer project will include bettering my backyard drainage...

Also Davis has a new type of tipping bucket that is supposed to be better than the old ones I might upgrade to that and see how that is.

It seems accurate I compare it to the Cultus lake station and some Wunderground stations around my neighbour hood even though Cultus is abit away from me it's actually close precip wise. like I said I came through the cold with no hiccups in performance, plus we've actually had a fair bit of outflow gusty winds this fall/winter and my wind guage has been awesome. I'm really impressed with the station for the price especiallly the wifi aspect saves a lot of cash not having to buy a wifi access hub.

Clown range yes, but where's is going to go? it's amazing to think a month ago we were looking at the early Jan models and looking for hope. Now it looks like winter's done, next year is forecasted to be a strong Nina apparently.
