Sorry about all the downtime guys. It was really messy. The host was doing some upgrades yesterday evening and that messed things up, then I tried to fix it by upgrading to the latest version of phpBB which messed it up even more! The host seems to have fixed it now.

37.2C in Elmsdale, PEI right now. That is ridiculous heat for that island. Although Charlottetown is only 31C (still hot for them).

In a sauna, the heat is (extremely) dry (80-110C with RH<20%). It's in a hammam where the heat is humid (45C with RH>90%).
But today was not a humid day in the East (dew points were between 12C and 17C). This is nothing.

West of the Rockies -> dry heat.
East of the Rockies -> humid heat.

Can't stand the heatwaves out east but love ours here in the west. Even though we have higher extremes, I'd much rather a 40c day in Lytton than a 30c day in Toronto.

The humidity out east can sometimes be pretty horrific during summer. Was in Toronto in July 2013 and the second you stepped outside was like being in a sauna. I much prefer the heat here in the west...even though extremes are higher, the heat doesn't feel nearly as oppressive due to the low humidity.

The last time I was in Chicago was summer 18 years ago. I remember going grocery shopping, stepping outside to catch a bus back to the hostel where I was staying (bus stop was right in front of the store), and waiting ten minutes for the next bus. By the time it came, I was drenched in sweat. And that was at 10:00 pm!

I went to Universal Studios and Disney World in Orlando Florida back in 2017. We had lots of fun but it was so hot and humid. That said, I also got to experience a severe thunderstorm that developed right overtop of the Disney park we were at. Constant lightning and torrential rain. It was super cool to see and be so close to it. Its too bad we don't get thunderstorms like that here but at least its not as humid. Though, we have had unusually humid days here in the summer as well. I remember one recent summer where we had an unusually long heat wave and it was very humid during that period. But we don't get that kind of humidity persisting all summer like they do in Florida.

I think we might be in this pattern for the foreseeable future. Any hints at prolonged ridging should probably taken for a grain of salt. The weekend curse is the real B*tch right now.
