Summer isn't coming next weekend. Powder skiing for the last weekend at Cypress?

Yea. That trough next weekend is looking notably cold on all the models right now.

I'm going to be shocked if Cypress lasts until next weekend.

This is the problem with La Nina. Sometimes it works out and we get an epic cold and snowy winter. Other times, not so much and then we have to deal with the long delays for spring and summer.

Why, because of the restrictions? They have enough snow to stay open much longer. They used to routinely stay open until the end of April. I remember the year they stayed open until July. 1999. That was a different owner though. Very cool skiing in July on the locals.

Re: April 2021 Forecasts and Discussions
Jealous. Skiing in the July sun would be insane. I wish I was around for those years with the 10 meter snowpacks. Although Sasquatch could easily go until June from what I saw the other day. I'm guessing that without Australian seasonal workers its just not economical to keep them open, and I believe their work permits expire around now.Coquitlam79 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 03, 2021 2:43 pm Why, because of the restrictions? And yes, I believe that our first true lockdown might be on the way. I work in the school system and teachers across the board are reporting that their students were out in Whistler where this incredibly infectious Brazilian strain was spreading out of control. If not that, then having indoor parties. Let me be clear though...I badly hope I'm wrong and that the models are wrong (said that before).
Back to weather. Sunshine and rainbows! Just kidding. Clouds, drizzle and endless gloom.

Re: April 2021 Forecasts and Discussions
That would be the latest snow I've seen since I moved from Kelowna years ago. I would love to see it. Its not like it would stick around or there would be an arctic blast or anything to come with it.

Re: April 2021 Forecasts and Discussions
Yeah, last snow post April 10th around parts of the lower mainland was back in 2011 if I recall correctly. Nothing recorded at YVR that year though... have to go back to April 18/19, 2008 with 2.2cm of snow.

Re: April 2021 Forecasts and Discussions
Rain didn't really materialize today. Kristin Gordon was saying 15mm but that was obviously not going to happen.
