Next front looks like its going way offshore. I say we'd be lucky to see some flakes in the air Friday, nm accumulations. The troffs keep diving more SW each time Prolly end up warming us up like NAM says

Whats the elevation there? Kinda looks like an enhancement of what Pitt Meadows got (so close by right) but with some elevation in play?

Re: December 2022 Forecasts And Discussions
Once you get snow on the ground, being in a low-lying area (which is the thing that works against you when it comes to getting the snow) works in your favour for getting cold temperatures. Cold air sinks and settles into the valleys on still, clear nights. I’m on the side of a ridge so cold air tends to drain away from me.

Ahhh, thank you for that explanation. Makes total sense!Rubus_Leucodermis wrote: ↑Thu Dec 01, 2022 9:10 am Once you get snow on the ground, being in a low-lying area (which is the thing that works against you when it comes to getting the snow) works in your favour for getting cold temperatures. Excellent GFS run. Wet and active with mountain snow and at the end it repairs the ridge and puts us back in the snow.

Dry until next Wednesday. Gradual moderation then some nice +5C rain.
Really want a wet and chilly pattern to up the Mountain snowpack. Hopefully no more arctic air or ridging for a while.

Sure you can blame the municipalities and the BC MOT but I knew as a 16 year old driver that snow/ice and hills are very risky to event attempt and there is no where to go if you get stuck. I would have either better planned my route or stuck it out at restaurant instead of attempting the journey.

But you can see the absolute senselessness here not just in drivers but like there's a freaking thousand pound vehicle sliding uncontrollably sliding towards people and they barely even realize it.wetcoast91 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 01, 2022 9:47 am Some clips I have seen...

People are just completely unaware, clueless and immune to danger signals. Have they been too sheltered from facing any real risk in their upbringing?
I remember in 2016 being utterly shocked at the behaviour. It wasn't necessary the incompetence but the willful ignorance. People gunning their engines and not moving anywhere for over an hour kind of stuff. Like at what point do you break it down, think critically and figure out something else. Even just google it!
I can totally understand and forgive inexperience. But not aggressive, willful ignorance.

Re: December 2022 Forecasts And Discussions
This happens when you mix arrogance, ignorance and inexperience onto a roadway. I was driving around in 2008/09 during the winter storms and it wasn't this bad. You simply have too many people on the roads at a given time, and many of them are inexperienced.PortKells wrote: ↑Thu Dec 01, 2022 9:56 am But you can see the absolute senselessness here not just in drivers but like there's a freaking thousand pound vehicle sliding uncontrollably sliding towards people and they barely even realize it.

Word is one of the 18 wheelers that jackknifed on the Alex Fraser Bridge had 3 tires with zero tread.
