I always downsample my photos to 640x480 before posting them. I figure that is good enough for online sharing.

Saw some snow flakes around 6:30am on my way to work between 232 and 264th. Wonder if that was it for the year.

Might not be worth it then. For the amount we share photos here, I think most would prefer the page be faster and just compress the images if they exceed 5mb.

Good news is the models have inched back on the rainfall with the ARs.

For what it’s worth, I’m in the blue, but we’ll see about that.

I have a feeling this is going to be a Burnaby Mountain / Westwood Plateau special. That’s mainly based on modelled temperatures and dew points.

HRRR says maybe some snow for the higher hills:

However, surface temperatures say cold rain:

“But what about the dew point?” you ask:
hrrr-vancouverski-dew2m_c-1410400.png
925 mbar temps are also not promising:

Story is very similar (or even bleaker for snow) in other short-term models.

If anything is going to slow down the page, I’d prefer the ability to embedd twitter links versus a higher file size limit for attachments.

Euro is a little more promising than the short-term models for some lowland wet snow:
ecmwf-deterministic-vancouverski-snow_24hr_kuchera_cm-1453600.png
Temperature and dew point at 06Z tonight:
ecmwf-deterministic-vancouverski-t2m_c-1410400.png
ecmwf-deterministic-vancouverski-dew2m_c-1410400.png
925 mbar temperature:
ecmwf-deterministic-vancouverski-t925-1410400.png
So maybe, briefly, if the stars align just right and precip rates are heavy enough. But probably a Burnaby Mountain / Westwood Plateau special.
