Perhaps employers should have been more active in shutting things down and letting people go before the snow came in. Not realistic for all scenarios, but even a little would have helped. I got off work at midnight, sat around until 3am and it still took me 1.5 hours to get home.
I work on Annacis Island and luckily got on the road about 2:45 and just beat the chaos as people leaving 10 minutes later got stuck but got through. People who got off work later slept at work. After close to 40 years of commuting the worst are always when it starts to snow during the day. Many years ago I had a 9 & 11 hrs commutes from under the Ironworkers bridge to Surrey. Mainroad should have had the bridge better prepared as it wasn't a surprise snow. Overnight snows stop many people from even trying to get to work.

I have worked in Toronto and San Francisco and have come to realize how inflexible employers are here. Many industries can move away from the 8 to 5 work hours or offer more remote working capabilities but there seems to be a weird resistance to this here.

They are probably just dandruff flakes from a passing Hawk.

That's what I was thinking, especially with the cloud cover. Even I'm still at -1.5°, after a low of - 4°.

Snowfall Friday night shown on the HRDPS. Looks like some areas could see 5-10cm. :flakey:
