The fact I had to go 372 HR out to find mild rain is concerning to all the warm rain fans here.

On a whole...every LR forecast seems to suggest one of those lengthy offshore rex-block patterns we saw in 2007-08 or 2016-17. Will other teleconnection indices come into to play to make this a substantial cold and snowy period?

I'm also getting slight December 2016 vibes right now. Nothing crazy cold but continuous chances for the lower mainland.

Expecting Cat 5 (on the Typer scale) arctic blasts in back-to-back years is probably a bit much, anyhow. Any snow is a treat in this climate.
It's called clown range for a reason.

North Shore Mountains are getting the goods this morning. The Mesoscale models picked that one up.

Radar just bloomed over the western sections. I expect we'll have a decent flurry in the next half hour downtown.

2016 was a truly special month coming off of two snowless winters. I would salivate at the thought of something like that again. There were two modified blasts that month, one on the 10th and another on NYE. Moderate cold but a bunch of nice snowfalls along the way.
