Where's Stormer?

He's usually here posting all the good model runs of the morning.

This can't be good... right Nito?

6z GEFS Ensembles

Colder runs ahead?

Mid-Dec is the period to watch.

Pretty dry after this weekend.

Looks like the short term has trended milder and completely done away with lowland snow. Little to no precip the next 10 days after Saturday. Ridging and then a slight backdoor push of cooler air to keep us clear.

Days 10-15 look interesting. I was thinking that we would see a neutral or +PNA with potential return to zonal flow. Long term models continue to show persistent blocking at the higher lattitudes.

Current YTD temperature anomoly.

I can't find one for Canada... but we can look at WA state.

Appears that we are pretty much on average in terms of temperatures for the year.

I wonder if we could end up slightly below based on how Dec is shaping up.

00Z EPS continues to be interesting for Christmas week. Cautiously optimistic.

Looks like it would be a pretty dry pattern though.

Good pattern for cold pool and east winds though.

And further down the line you'll have frigid east winds waking people up at night.

I guess dry cold doesn't really do much for me.

If it was a pattern where we have a decent snowfall or two and then go into that pattern... sure. I'd enjoy that. Dry cold with no snow... nah.

Think dry skin, chapped lips and tumbleweeds!!!

So much blocking across the north. Almost has to be some sort of a backdoor arctic front. Which as we know are often dry and underwhelming in this area.

He’s getting carried away as usual. We are 1week into winter and he’s already speculating some lowland locales could see snow cover for the entire winter. :wtf:  :eh:

We have to take advantage of all this blocking and cold since it seems to keep coming back and back. I hate to see another cold snap wasted with no snow.

I truly don't understand why he does this to himself?? Then he gets depressed when his unreasonable expectations doesn't come to fruition

The EPS ends up in a great spot with the long wave pattern later in week 2. We could see a shortwave dig favourably if that verifies but it’s a crap shoot that far out. Looks like next week could be sunny with dry cold.
