It was not long before he had the run of the house. I then left for college, and returned for the holidays to notice an extra place set at the table.
"Who's coming over for dinner?"
"Nobody is coming over for dinner. Why did you think that?"
"You set six places at the table, not five."
"That's Smokey's seat."
Yes, he literally ate his meals at the table, sitting in a chair, with the rest of the family.
