I love snow and cold as much as the next guy but that looks like cold rain more than anything, with the occasional positive splat test

If anything, the mountains should start building a decent snow pack. That’s the important thing.

Sardineman remembers it well , he was just a small fry :sard: , he got a Gumby toy for his birthday and his first snow globe for Christmas , which inspired him to start a snow globe collection.

That winter wasn't that cold, with a minium temp of -6.1C at YVR on December 14th and 16th (average high/low of 6.1/0.3).

But it was relatively snowy, with 39.3cm in December, 49.5cm January, T in February, and 14.3cm in March --- making for a total of 103.1cm or 40". Not bad. To be honest I'd prefer insanely cold temps over warm snow but wouldn't complain with a 65-66 repeat either.
It always snows in December in the Kootenays

There was some pretty cold arctic air entrenched in the interior with that late Dec/early Jan event. Not much reached the immediate coast but it was just cold enough for some very impressive snow totals. YVR recorded a peak depth of 41cm on Jan 5th. That happens to be the same peak depth recorded in 2008.

Move just 75km east to Abbotsford and the presence of that arctic air was definitely noticeable. Still didn't get very cold overall but YXX did record a -6.7C/-11.1C day on Jan 4th. Snow depth peaked at 56cm on Jan 6th.

Checking the stats for Hope during that period as well...it was insane. Arctic air was fully entrenched (-12.2C/-15.0C on Jan 4th) with crazy snow totals. Peak depth of 114cm on Jan 6th!

You say!

November: 6.6cm
December: 139.3cm (131.9cm from 23th to 31th! )
January: 159.7cm
February: 45.7cm (33.8cm on a single day)
March: 8.4cm
April: 3.0cm
Total: 362.7cm (Quebec like!)
Snow covered the ground from Dec. 24th to March 14th! 114cm on Jan. 6th is the all-time record.

In YVR, the winter of 65-66 was the 11th snowiest since 1938.

Some of those 50s and 60s winters were insanely snowy out in the eastern Fraser Valley. Over 200cm in January 1954 and nearly 150cm in February 1957.
