We only really ever see modified arctic air. At least to some degree.
North end of Shawnigan Lake. Southern Vancouver island. 500ft

Yeah. We basically only ever experience continental polar (cP) airmasses during winter; temps between 0C and -20C. Continental arctic (cA) airmasses (temps below -20C) are extremely rare...haven't occurred since '68-69.

Yes the dreaded "modified" arctic air and warming downsloping. Blocking ridges will do that almost every time. Meh. The worst ones are when Agassiz sits at 4c or 5c all night with strong NNE winds :lol: :lol:

I'm surprised it's moved up and also extended into la la land. :thumbup: they've got rain showers or flurries in the outlook for the central valley.

It's looking chilly to end the month butties..dry but better than bommy ridge. Let's hope we get some chilly air maybe low snow levels..and pray. Fawwwwk. Where did nito go? :think: :think:

He's getting ready for an appearance: chilly dry day's next week, splitty flow followed by inversion don't buy a ski pass, Grouse grind open all winter not enough snow for Santa and his sleigh this year. Maybe cooler by April. :lol:
