Still some post frontal activity and the airmass isn't as dry as it would usually be in these setups. Can't rule out additional flurries through the day.

Isn't a snowfall warning more appropriate? Winter storm more for like an overrunning icy event? I Could be wrong.

If it's purely snowfall WSW still meets criteria if snow is 25 cm in 24 hours. This one was definitely a winter storm.

I will defend them just this once. Literally nobody saw this coming until the last second model flip. Even the most generous folks were saying 15 cm widespread, which at the time seemed reasonable.

That's true but once radar trends were apparent late last night I think an upgrade was warranted.

Or perhaps the cutoff is 10pm... Anyway, I wish it would just line up with the clock, but it doesn't lol

it's 11PM during daylight savings time and 10PM during standard time
